The Vancouver Whitecaps defeated the 2012 MLS Cup finalists, the Houston Dynamo, by a score of 2-1 in their second preseason match of the year. The match took place in Tuscon, Arizona on Saturday and saw a lot of new players and trialists making appearances.
Highlights
The Whitecaps went down 1-0 in the 30' minute with a Bobby Boswell freekick goal that flew over all of the Houston and Vancouver players and found its way into the bottom corner. Although, two minutes after the 'Caps tied it up with a goal from their speedy Jamaican striker, Darren Mattocks, who finished off a great combination play involving Erik Hurtado and Camilo. This being his fourth goal in only two games in this year's MLS preseason. The two sides went into the halftime break tied up at one.
Nearing the mid-way point of the second half, the Whitecaps took the lead with a goal from recent signee and ex-Generation Adidas player, Corey Hertzog. Hertzog capitalized off a dreadful back pass to the Houston keeper from Jason Johnson as he took it in alone, pushed it around Dynamo goal stopper Erich Marscheider and slotted it home.
Whitecaps coach, Martin Rennie, commented after the match: "Obviously its just preseason and we're just learning things and working on things trying to get fitter but I think it was two pretty good halves against a good team.

"In both halves the defenders played well, in the second half you had balls going into the box and Brad Rusin was a monster in there and that was nice for us to take away that pressure but over the course of the whole game we didn't give up too many chances, our goalkeepers didnt have too many saves but overall I am very pleased" Rennie added.
